The Trans - Christmas pictures

Michael and Kris by the Christmas tree
Steve preparing the Pig
Dinner!!!

I don't think I uploaded these pics from christmas. I thought I took more on my mobile but they must all be on my regular camera. Anyways the first is our xmas tree and presents on christmas morning (Michael-in the hat- and Kris are behind the tree) and then the next is our driver getting the pigs ready for the spit roast and the last is on of the pigs. Sadly I didn't take any photos on my mobile of the pigs actually on the spit.

Hopefully uploading this uses the last of my credit on my mobile because heading into Mali it probably won't work anymore. So no posts (likely) until we get to Bamako. Which I think I'm not supposed to say we are going there because then the terrorists will know and come get us....but since I don't know where we are or what road or border crossing we are using or how many more days we'll drive - they can't find us anyways...a big yellow truck blends into the landscape I'm sure!!!

The Trans - Riots and hospitals

So - we dropped Jo at the hospital in Dakar. The town was having a bit of excitment as we drove through. We were heading into the centre of town and suddenly we heard fire crackers and saw people running in the other direction. I turned to look out the window and all the cars ahead of us were fighting to turn around. Suddenly we realized they weren't fire crackers - it was gun shots! So the leader came on over the intercom (which is really only used in emergencies) and told us to "Get Down"!! So we all dove to the floor of the truck and cuddled in together while our driver navigated to turn the truck around. Ha - what a bit of excitment. Almost as exciting as the riots in London. We found out later that apparently the Mayor of Dakar got tired of people throwing rocks at him - so he got a gun and opened fire on a crowd and killed someone!! So the people were even more upset and rioting and the riot police were there throwing tear gas (sadly I couldn't get out to get a picture with on of these riot police!)

The Trans - sad news :(

So - sad news!!! Jo is super sick and we are all driving to Dakar tomorrow to bring her to hospital and  leave her there :( she's going home after she gets a note from her doctor to give her insurance company!

So now the trip has even less nice people! What a mess! I am so glad I'm done in like 20ish days.

The Trans - Merry Chirstmas

Finally have a second of internet on my mobile! Mostly doesn't work here but yay....I've survived Xmas with people I mostly don't like! We had a massive pork roast and it was all good (amazingly). We have an
extra night here (Zebrabar - outside St. Louis, Senegal) and we'll head to Mali....no internet for ages!!!
